So I’m going to dive right into this post about my favorite MAC products. As some of you know I work full time for MAC, and I absolutely enjoy working for them and have learned a lot from the trainers there that has added to my makeup artistry skills. It has brought my career further down a path and I love doing makeup and making people feel their absolute best. My last makeup application was for one of my regular customers and I loved doing his makeup for Washington DC’s pride parade. He left feeling and looking fabulous and he came in the other day to show me some pictures and I could see that he had an amazing time and looked so good in his pictures. I’m not saying that to sound boastful or bias, but because he is a beautiful person inside and out and I love getting to know my clients. With your experience at my counter and with me, I make sure you not only get what you want for your desired look, but also that you feel beautiful inside and out. So to getting started I’m going to go over the products that I love using. I have accumulated a lot of MAC products and I also do have the luxury of using them and showing you personally what you can do with everything while I work.
MAC’s pigments for eyeshadow, are amazing, they are smooth and creamy textured and can make you feel, vibrant, glam, or even fully polished for your everyday look. We are a very universal cosmetic line. My first palette I bought was In The Flesh, it’s a great basic palette to own for everyday neutrals or for our classic smokey eye. Also, a little trick we owned with our Kohl eyeliner pencils, is to shade the top lid after using your paint pot primers (I personally love the shade painterly) and then go in with your shadows. It makes the smoky eye more bold looking, it’s gorgeous really, and don’t feel as though a smokey eye can only be done with black shadow, you can use any color to achieve that look. Browns, purples, reds, any color. Come into my job and I can show you how that look is done.
I think everyone by this time is familiar and probably obsessed with MAC’s lipsticks, lipliners, scrubs, and conditioners by now. I’m going to list all my favorite colors below and highly suggest you go try some and see what looks great on you. Remember lipsticks look different on everyone, do to natural lip pigments and skin tones.

Fix plus prep and prime sprays are a must have and actually MAC’s best sellers. I currently own and use, the new cucumber and watermelon mini’s, the coconut, and original. The original I also use to wet my brushes if I want to wet a shadow to make it more pigmented or do an eyeliner. Just make sure if you ever wet an eyeshadow to wipe it immediately so the powder doesn’t harden. Other’s include mini’s in Peony, white tea, and pineapple, newly released and limited time only, so go stock up on those. They all smell amazing and great to travel on a plane with to keep the skin hydrated. Matte, is great for blurring pores and controlling oil on the skin, and we have gold and pink fix plus, which leaves a little sparkle and glow to the skin. Fix plus is dermatologist tested, non acnegenic, and improves makeup wear for up to 12 hours. It also contains great facto ingredients such as green tea, chamomile, cucumber, and caffeine.
The MAC foundations we sell at our ULTA boutique are the Studio Fix, which is my favorite. It’s an oil control matte finish spf 15 and pairs beautifully with our Natural Radiance in primer which comes in yellow and pink for a nice glow under the foundation. Try one side with it and one side without it and I’m telling you there’s a huge difference in the finish. The next one is the Pro Long Wear. Now this one doesn’t contain SPF so I recommend pairing it with our newly released SPF 30 Fix plus Spray. This foundation’s finish has a satin look to it and is full and waterproof. The 3rd liquid foundation we carry is the Water weight, you need to shake this foundation before use and comes with a convenient eye dropper applicator. This is a spf 30 hydrating foundation. Give the skin and all day hydration and a nice beautiful glow. It’s our most popular for summer, its a sheer medium coverage so great for summer’s weather. Now we also carry the Studio Fix powder foundation., great for someone who needs to touch up, absorb oil, or wants a light coverage, however this is buildable for a fuller coverage look as well. I keep mine in my bag with a small powder brush for touch ups.
My favorite MAC mascaras, are the giga black lash, haute and naughty, and extreme dimension for a more dramatic bold look. We do carry some great false lashes to add to your look, and the are great quality. Keep them stored properly in their case and get up to about 15 wears with these.
At my boutique, we also carry some amazing creamy highlighters in many colors, MAC’s famous skin finish to top off your makeup for a lighter powder wear. Our amazing mineral blushes, my favorites are sweet enough, warm soul, and dainty. Classic strobe creams, and Time Check lotion (blurring primer, and moisturizer in one), our brightening eye cream, which also depuffs, and I recommend keeping this in the fridge, makes for a cooling feeling under the eye in the morning.
We have a pretty extensive collection at our MAC boutique at ULTA. Now obviously the MAC stand alone stores will carry more products since they are a larger store. However those closest ones to my boutique are both 45 mins away. So I’m super grateful that MAC signed with ULTA two years ago and will be in all the new locations. MAC has been around since 1984, we have donated so much to the AIDS foundation, we do recycle and do what’s called Back to MAC, where you bring in 6 empty products and recieve a free silver and black bullet lipstick. MAC is the classic run way brand and has contributed to so many great runway looks we have seen over the years. I’m proud to call myself a MAC makeup artist and help make you feel beautiful inside and out. Any questions you have for me leave a comment below. I hope I see you in for an application or lesson!
