How to find your Blogging Niche
Hey Friends,
So today on my blog, I’m going to be helping you discover and narrow down your niche for your blog and IG/Facebook content. Also whatever other platforms you planning on using. Currently I am taking a blogging course called The Profitable Influencer, which you can find on Instagram. I signed up for this course because after two years of blogging I still was struggling with finding my why and what for my niche. I wasn’t finding my crowd or right following. I still have some amazing followers that I regularly engage with and I’m so grateful that they have stayed on this journey with me. Blogging is huge community and there are so many great bloggers our there who are super sweet, inspiring and creative, and we all love supporting one another.
Through The profitable Influencer course there is 7 modules, one module a week on Tuesdays, but we can do the course on our own time. I do mine every Thursday when I’m off. So what’s great about this course is that Amanda, our teacher, gives us print outs to work through while we do each course. It’s super organized and I love that about this course.
I noticed that a lot up new bloggers get stuck on their niches and even bloggers like myself who just felt like they were all over the place. I wasn’t engaging like I wanted to, or seeing any traffic or likes on my content, and that wasn’t good for someone with over 8,000 followers. Something needed to change, my niche was too generic and it wasn’t setting myself apart.
So what I want you to do, is get a piece of paper, and write down these things…
1. Why are you starting a blog?
2, What are your interests and hobbies?
3. who do you want your audience to be? What is their occupation, income, style, gender.
4. What does your audience like to do for fun? Watch YouTube tutorials, shop, travel, go out with friends, stay at home mom?
5. What are YOU educated in?
6. What are people always asking for your help with?
7.What makes you Unique?
Ask yourself what Brands you want to work with? Beauty, fashion, food, travel?
Now niches can be broken down into smaller parts, and into something that targets who you are as an influencer. For example, you want to be a fashion blogger. Do you want to do just plus size fashion, girly fashion, luxury fashion, budget friendly fashion?
I just now discovered my niche after TWO years. Yes TWO!! I’ve finally decided that I am going to dedicate my time to become a full time blogger, and generate a substantial income to help bring money to the table for my household. I want to bring as much as my fiancé and match him financially, or even more. Hehe. So that is apart of my why. The other part is to educate, and help others in certain areas. For instance my new niche is going to be date night fashion ( I have more date night clothes in my closet more than anything), I also want to do a Thursday night wine night through stories or reels to educate my followers on wine. Reds, white, rose, sparkling, undertones, body, and what to pair each wine with for cheese boards, snacks, and even meals. I want to start a YouTube channel on dating and relationships. Red flags, commitment, dating apps, and how to maintain a healthy relationship that will hopefully last forever. Then lastly, I will be posting content about beauty. Like skincare, plastic surgery procedures, makeup and hair, because that is where I am educated in.
I really hope this blog post has helped narrow down your niche and of course feel free to leave a comment here or a faster way to ask me questions about your niche and content is by messaging me on Instagram @myemeralddiaries. I would love to help however I can. Remember I am growing with you and still learning myself. This isn’t an overnight jobs, and successful bloggers today have said it can take up to 5 years to really become full time and generate a comfortable income, enough to quit their full time jobs. So do not panic, doubt or free because you will get there!
Have a great week,
Sincerely,
My Emerald Diaries
