How and what to Pack for Vacation

Do you ever get the sense of that overwhelmed feeling right before you leave for vacation? Like the house needs to be cleaned, laundry needs to be done, need to make a list of everything I need for these 3 days I’m going away for. Yes, 3 day trip, and yes I’m overwhelmed. So these past couple of days have gone by so slow and now I’m finally at home packing for my little get away with Matt. We have not had a vacation together since we met, so 2 1/2 years. We have had a lot going on, between work, health discoveries, and buying a new house, we just haven’t been able to. So this is super exciting and special for us. We are going 1 1/2 hours away to St. Michaels and are staying at the St. Michaels Marina and Spa and the water. Wineries, antique shopping, mini cruises and kayaking (never been, wish me luck). Oh, that reminds me I need to pack and outfit for that. See, overwhelmed! Blogging relaxes me though so I’m happy to take a break and chat with you all.

So came home and pulled my bags out and just started gathering. I always think about everyday needs first. Face, makeup, body, and hair. Then I think of what I wear under my clothing. ( last girls trip I went on I forgot underwear). So underwear, bras, socks, sleepwear, cute and cozy pair. Then clothes, shoes, bags, jewelry, sunglasses, bathing suits, towels. So much to take and I’m only gone for 3 days, but hey a girl needs options, right?

See, I want every outfit perfect for each moment. Winery, dinner, relaxing while driving, and shopping.  I have a LBD for dinner, another dress with a straw hat for the winery, bathing suit cover up, and casual wear to shop in. Sounds like I have it all planned out right? Well I know I’m probably forgetting something, but that’s ok because I’m going on vacation, finally!! Here I am thinking about everything I need, but sometimes we have to just stop, and think, and remember to live in each moment. Stop stressing the trip and enjoy it because I’m going with my amazing boyfriend, and I say that because he helped planned this trip for us. I know he needed this vacation too. Relationships can have some stressors and tension and we need to take time for our relationships and really enjoy each other in these moments.

Ok so off topic there for a second but a great mental reminder for everyone. Does everyone know how to pack their bags? Roll your clothing, don’t fold it and it won’t wrinkle. Put all the heavy items towards where the bottom wheels are. Seal liquids and keep jewelry safe, especially if you are flying and checking your bag. Pack accessories like bags and shoes in a separate bag. I always need an extra bag just for all of those options. Pack a few things that might make the room feel more like home, for instance I’m bringing candles and bubble bath for the 2 person jacuzzi, snacks that you may need late at night, a bottle opener for wine (just remembered that as typing). Don’t forget medication and your sugar bear sleep vitamins, and I recommend that if you are a light sleeper. Plus hotels was their sheets in scolding hot water so the sheets are usually dry and itchy.

If I have forgotten anything in this post, please comment below, because I am always up for new and easy tactics. Now I am going to go snuggle my dog and got watch some shameless before bed. Goodnight everyone!
