Mix-N-Matching styles

Let me just say that I am super excited to finally write a new post for my brand new website! I haven’t been able to post a blog post in about a month and I am very grateful for everyone who has been patient and continued to support my blog.

So I recently did a photoshoot in the rain, actually a lot of fun, and I decided to wear something with a pop of color to add to the dreary day we were having. One morning I was scrolling through IG and I follow this boutique located in downtown Westminster Maryland and on their story was a shot of this gorgeous green pleated skirt. Now I already own a few pleated skirts, two actually from the boutique Shop Cultivated (follow on IG) and one from Marshalls. In the shoot my pleated skirt had so much detail, it was long I the back with a slit up the back and had a pretty ruffle detail on the side and really drew me to this skirt was that it was my signature color, Emerald Green. I went in that day and bought it!

Now pleated skits aren’t for everybody, even though I find them classy and flattering, but I know not everyone likes to wear them. So if you’re like me and you do like them, I’m here to tell you how there are various ways to wear these skirts. With this green one I decided to pair I with a classic tee from Target, that says “Love More,” I like graphic tee’s with a message or statement. Then I threw on a timeless black Michael Kors Pump and a simple little clutch. The rose umbrella I got in my amazing FabFitFun box. If you don’t already get that subscription, I highly recommend you jump on that wagon with me.

Now for my two other pleated skirts, one’s coral and the other is a pink/wine color, both long to the ankle and flowy. I haven’t worn my wine colored one yet, but when I do I believe I’m going to pair that with a black body suit and a black leather jacket with either a black pump or a pair of chucks. Super casual/cool, or can dress it up if you lose the jacket and add a bold necklace or cuff bracelet. So many ideas coming to my mind right now for this one. As for the coral one I have always worn this beige sweater material tank top and gold jewelry, bangle and earring. Simple and sleek looking, it’s nice for a summer dinner date.

So I want you all now to go grab either a pleated skirt or any classic staple skirt and try to dress it up and dress it down. Play with what’s already in your closet. Pull out your shoes, hats and jewelry, even jackets. Piece things together and see what you come up with. Growing up in my 20’s I always played it safe, I kept things simple, and now that I’m in my 30’s I taking chances and outfit risks. Style is constantly changing, even look back 10 years ago, I’m like “whoa, why did I buy that forever 21 dress?” Still love forever 21 actually but I don’t really buy club dresses anymore. Playing dress up with new and old pieces are so much fun, and you may even discover something to do with that item that has the tag still on it. This is something to do on your day off where you are just relaxing and doing nothing, well here is something, go raid your closets!
